How is the SAT Scored?
Understanding your SAT score can be confusing because the College Board converts your "Raw Score" (the number of questions you got right) into a "Scaled Score" (between 400 and 1600). This process, often called "equating," ensures that a slightly harder test doesn't result in a lower score.
The Structure of the Test
The SAT is comprised of two main sections, each worth 800 points:
- Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW): This combines your scores from the Reading section (52 questions) and the Writing & Language section (44 questions).
- Math: This combines the No-Calculator and Calculator sections (58 questions total).
